MITUR wins prestigious international awards for U.S. digital and experiential marketing campaigns

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – September 2019– Two Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism campaigns were recently recognized in the 2019 Summit International Awards (SIA) for their marketing programs created by the renown independent advertising agency BVK. With over 4,500 entries coming from 27 countries, Dominican Republic scored among the best, winning the Silver Award in the Travel/Tourism/Nature Website Category for its tourism official website, and the Gold Award in the Guerrilla/Unconventional Marketing Category for their innovative pop-up style traveling activation “POP Funhouse” which promoted tourism to the country’s north coast in four U.S. cities.

“In a market as competitive as the United States, the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism is always searching for the most creative avenues of promotion. We are honored that our marketing strategies have been recognized this year by such an important international platform like the Summit Awards Organization,” said Magaly Toribio, Marketing Advisor for the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism. “BVK has been our strategic ally, creating groundbreaking, innovative marketing and advertising campaigns that continue to position Dominican Republic as the number one Caribbean destination.”

From hiking trails to undiscovered beaches and unique cultural activities including gastronomy, dancing and carnival, Dominican Republic is like no other place in the Caribbean, these campaigns speak to the diversity and beauty of Dominican Republic, further raising awareness that there is more to Dominican Republic than meets the eye.

Over the past 25 years, the Summit Awards Organization has established itself as one of the premier arbiters of creative excellency. The organization is dedicated to furthering creative excellence in the communications industry. Companies and individuals from more than 50 countries and across five continents participate in its award programs.

“Our team is thrilled to be recognized for our continued efforts to push creative boundaries and connect with customers in new and innovative ways. We’d like to thank our client, the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism, for believing in the power of fearless ideas and stories that inspire,” said Ileana Alemán-Rickenbach, Chief Creative Officer, BVK Miami.

The Summit Creative Award (Summit SCA), began in 1994 and evolved through a need to recognize and celebrate creativity, innovation and those pushing the bounds of creative excellence. This international advertising competition offers participants a unique opportunity to showcase their talents alongside similarly positioned agencies, and to have their work judged by experts in the advertising field.
