Madrid, Spain, January 19, 2017.- The Spanish airline Iberia renewed a tourist promotion agreement with the Dominican Republic, maintaining its seven weekly flights, with the direct flight Madrid-Santo Domingo to continue strengthening the arrival of more tourists to the country.

The agreement was signed by Luis Gallego, president of Iberia and the Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier García, within the framework of the 37th edition of the tourism fair FITUR 2017, which takes place in Madrid, Spain, since Wednesday 17 and will run until Saturday 21.

The airline will carry out its operations on the modern Airbus A330 / 200 aircraft, incorporating improvements in Business and Tourist class, with a daily flight.

The agreement also contemplates the international promotion of the country as a tourist destination and includes different actions through the communication channels of Iberia, such as magazine, social networks and web page.

Gallego said they are very satisfied with the results obtained in their operations with the Dominican Republic, so they will work to continue stimulating tourism to the destination, which is of the utmost importance for the airline.

Meanwhile the Minister of Tourism said that this cooperation agreement constitutes an important fact to promote the Dominican Republic through the airline Iberia, as this company constitutes a brand country in Spain.

He added that the renewal of this agreement seeks to continue the works on betting on the destination and also with the intention that an adendum will soon be made to increase flights to other sub-destinations in Dominican Republic.

“We know that we will soon receive this good news for the strength that the European market is having towards the Dominican Republic, which in previous years grew between 1% and 2%, but in 2016 increase to 11%,” said García.
